Abstract
Processor removal movie for IBM System x3650 T (Type 7980)
Content
To remove the Processor:
- Turn off the server and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Remove the Cover:
- Press in the cover release button and slide the cover the rear approximately one-half inch.
- Lift the cover off and place it to the side.
- Remove the Fan Guard.
- Loosen the two captive screws and remove the fan guard.
Remove the Processor:
- Alternately loosen the four captive screws securing the heat sink and lift it off.
- Rotate the locking lever to the open position.
- Carefully remove the processor from the socket and place on an ESD protected surface.
