Abstract

Power distribution board assembly for IBM System x3650 T (Type 7980)

Content

To remove the Power Distribution Board Assembly:

  1. Turn off the server and disconnect all power cords and external cables.

Remove the Power Supply:

  1. Press down on the power supply latch to release it. Grasp the handle and pull the supply from the bay.

Remove the Bezel:

  1. Loosen the two captive thumb screws and lift it off.

Remove the Cover:

  1. Press in the cover release button and slide the cover the rear approximately one-half inch.
  2. Lift the cover off and place to the side.

Remove the CD/DVD Drive:

  1. Squeeze the release latch and rotate the drive tray handle to the open position. Then grasp the drive tray and pull it from the front of the system.

Remove the Riser Card Assembly:

  1. Disconnect the PCI Card Carrier cable.
  2. Rotate the two release latches inward and lift the Riser Card Assembly out of the chassis and place it on an ESD protected surface.

Remove the Fan assembly:

  1. Loosen the two captive screws and remove the fan guard.
  2. Disconnect the four fan power cables from the front panel board.
  3. Loosen the single captive screw on the Fan Array Assembly and remove the Assembly.

Remove the Power Distribution Board Assembly:

  1. Disconnect the following cables:
    • P5
    • P3
    • P1
    • P2
  2. Press down on the release bar and rotate the front of the board up to free it from the locating pins then slide it to the front of the machine to remove it.
