Abstract
IBM System x3550 (Type 1013, 1913, 7978) - Power Backplane removal movie
Content
To remove the Power Back Plane:
- Turn off the server and all peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Remove the Top Cover:
- Slide the cover release latches and rotate the Fan Door open.
- Loosen the captive screw on the rear of the chassis.
- Slide the cover towards the rear of the server approximately one half inch and then lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
Remove the Hot-Swap Power Supplies:
- Press down on the power supply latch to release it. Grasp the handle and pull the supply from the bay.
- If installed the second power supply should be removed using the same procedure.
Remove the Power Back Plane:
- Disconnect the Power Cable.
- Slide the Power back plane assembly to the left side of the server to disconnect it from the system board.
- Lift it out, and place it on an ESD protected surface.
