To remove the optical drive backplane

Remove the top cover:

1. Turn off the server and all peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
2. Loosen the captive screw on the rear of the chassis.
3. Slide the cover towards the rear of the server approximately one half inch and then lift the cover off the server and set it aside.

Remove the optical drive:

1. Press and hold the release button as you push the drive from the rear toward the front of the server, and then pull it from the bay.

Remove the optical drive backplane:

1. Disconnect the signal and power cables from the backplane.
2. Remove the two mounting screws and then lift the backplane from the server.
