To remove a fan
Remove the top cover:
- Turn off the server and all peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
- Loosen the captive screw on the rear of the chassis.
- Slide the cover towards the rear of the server approximately one half inch and then lift the cover off the server and set it aside
Remove the air baffles:
- Lift the baffle for microprocessor two up and out of the server and place it aside.
- Use the same procedure to remove the air baffle for microprocessor one if required.
Remove the fan:
- Disconnect the cable from the system board and lift the fan out of the server.
Note: The posts that attach the fan to the system board are a compression fitting and you will feel resistance as you lift the fan up.
- Use the same procedure to remove any additional fans if required.
