To remove an optical drive media backplane
Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Remove the top cover:
- Rotate the top cover release latch up and slide the cover approximately one-half inch to the rear.
- Lift the cover off and place it aside.
Remove the optical drive media backplane:
- Press down on the blue release tab on top of the drive bay and push the drive slightly toward the front of the server.
- Disconnect the signal and power cables from the backplane.
- Remove the two screws that secure the backplane to the chassis and lift the backplane out of the server.
