To remove a power-supply cage
Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Remove the hot-swap power supplies:

Press down on the orange release lever and then grasp the handle on the power supply and pull it out of the bay.
Use the same procedure to remove the second power supply if required.
Remove the side cover:
- Unlock the side cover if required.
- Press down on the cover release latch and rotate the top of the cover away from the chassis.
- Lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
Remove the lower bezel:
- Press the release button on the right side of the lower bezel and rotate the top away from the server and lift it off.
Remove the hot-swap hard drives and filler plates:
- Press the release latch and rotate the drive tray handle to the open position.
- Pull the drive from the bay.
Remove the filler plates:
- Insert your finger into the finger hole and pull the filler plate from the bay.
Use the same procedure to remove any additional drives or filler plates.
Place the server on its side, this is the recommended service position.
Place the hard drive cage in the service position:
- Press and hold the drive cage release tab and rotate the drive cage up to gain access to the fan cable connector and disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Note: Failure to disconnect the fan cable before rotating the drive cage to the completely up position may damage the system board. - Continue rotating the drive cage up until latched in place.
Remove the front system fan assembly:
- Pull out on the release tabs and rotate the assembly away from the drive cage slightly.
- Remove the power cables from the slots on the assembly and then rotate the assembly away from the drive cage and remove it.
Remove the power-supply cage:

Disconnect the following cables:
- Disk Backplane
- Two System Board Power
- Optical Drive Power
- Remove the four screws that secure the power-supply cage to the chassis.
- Slide the cage toward the front of the server to disengage the retaining tabs and carefully lift the cage out of the chassis.
