To remove the fan

Remove the side cover:

1. Turn off the server and all peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
2. Place the system on its right side. This is the recommended Service Position.
3. Remove the two thumbscrews on the rear of the server. Slide the cover to the rear approximately one half inch and lift it off the server.

1. Press down on the bezel release tab to disengage the bezel from the chassis. Rotate it open to free the hinge tabs and lift it off.

1. Grasp the handle of the processor air baffle and rotate it up to the fully opened position and lift it straight up and out of the server.

1. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
2. Grasp the fan with both hands, and pull firmly, extending the rubber grommets. The grommets will be pulled through the holes in either the fan or the chassis and can then be removed.
   Note: Replacement fans come with new grommets.
3. Remove the fan from the chassis and place it aside.
