To remove the Hard Disk Drive Cage:

  1. Remove all installed drives. A hot-swap SCSI hard disk drive is shown.
  2. Rotate the drive tray handle to the open position and wait approximately 30 seconds for the drive to spin down.
  3. Pull the drive from the bay.
  4. Open the main cover:
    1. Release the latch for the I/O fan cover and open the cover.
    2. Release the latch for the processor fan cover and open the cover.
    3. Press in the cover release latch and rotate it up while sliding the cover to the rear approximately one-half inch.
    4. Lift the cover off and place it to the side.
  5. Rotate the two cage release latches up, which slides the assembly forward and frees it from the chassis and provides access to the cables.
  6. Disconnect the SCSI power cable and SCSI signal cable from the back plane.
  7. Disconnect the IDE signal cable from the system board.
  8. Lift the cage assembly up and place it aside.
  9. Close the cage release latches and then turn over the assembly to gain access to the DVD drive.
  10. Press in on the DVD release latch and, using your finger, slide the DVD from the bay and place to the side.
  11. If the release latch did not come off the assembly, lift it off the DVD drive.
