Error description

• This issue can be seen when using IBM Sterling Transformation
  Extender 11.0.1.x on AIX running a map using a standard
  Typetree, reading UTF-8 data that has multi-byte characters.
  Where a Typetree object has a specific maximum length
  restriction, the data might fail maximum size requirements,
  despite the character count being less than the requirement.

Problem summary

• Users Affected:
  IBM Transformation Extender users who uses UTF-8 for item types
  with a character limit on AIX.
  
  Problem Description:
  An incorrect number of characters could be determined for an
  item type on AIX when the item type used UTF-8. This could cause
  
  input data to be rejected based on a character limit violation.
  
  Platforms Affected:
  All
  

Problem conclusion

• Logic which processed a UTF-8 string to determine its character
  count was corrected to be able to support 64-bit integers.
  Specifically, integer size mismatches and associated function
  uses were corrected.
  
  Applies to:
  10.1.0.2, 10.1.1.1, 10.1.2.1, 11.0.0.0, 11.0.1.1 11.0.2.0
  
  Fixed in the next service packs and releases.
