- MD5 checksum: 323e141e67544ff694e98939fee300bf
Finding the patch
- Select the following options to download this patch on the IBM Fix Central website and click Continue.
- Product selector: IBM Security Guardium
- Installed Version: 12.2
- Platform: All
- On the "Identify fixes" page, select Browse for fixes and click Continue.
- On the "Select fixes" page, select Other Patch. Then, enter the patch information in the Filter fix details field to locate the patch.
- Customers who already upgraded to Guardium 12.0p230 (see release note) or do not use GIM to install and manage agents do not need to apply this ad-hoc patch to use the new single-stream agent release packages.
- Customers on Guardium versions 12.0p200 or 12.0p210 must first upgrade to version 12.0p220 before applying patch 12.0p229. (Or upgrade to version 12.0p230 and not need to install patch 12.0p229.)
This and other ad-hoc patches that prepare GIM for the new single-stream agent release packages align with specific Guardium appliance versions. Identify your current appliance patch level and apply the corresponding ad-hoc patch before deploying Linux-UNIX Agents version 12.xp101 or later, or Windows Agents version 12.x.p100 or later. For the full list of ad-hoc patches, see Single-stream agent releases.
Use the following sequence to upgrade to the single-stream agent releases:
- Apply the correct ad-hoc patch to the corresponding Guardium appliance version to update the GIM server, making it ready to accept and distribute the single-stream agent releases.
- Upload Linux-UNIX Agents 12.xp101 or later, or Windows Agents 12.x.p100 or later, and deploy them by means of the GIM.
Important: Do not upload Linux-UNIX Agents 12.xp101 or later, or Windows Agents 12.x.p100 or later to a GIM server that does not yet have this appliance patch installed because the bundle will not process correctly.
Installation
- This ad hoc patch restarts the classifier, nanny and Tomcat processes.
- Do not reboot the appliance while the patch install is in progress. Contact IBM Support if there is an issue with patch installation.
- When changing the password of CLI and guardcli users in the Guardium command line interface, a password strength warning appears even when strong passwords are not enabled. To remove the strong password checks, execute the CLI command store user strong_password disable.
- Download the patch and extract the compressed package outside the Guardium system.
- Review the latest version of the patch release notes just before you install the patch.
- Pick a "quiet" or low-traffic time to install the patch on the Guardium system.
- Install patches in a top-down manner on all Guardium systems: start with the central manager, then aggregators, then the collectors.
- Apply the latest quarterly DPS patch and rapid response DPS patch.
