Troubleshooting
Problem
Once an Integrated Application Server has been created on the IBM i, the logical next step is to install a Java application to it. This guide will help any user get there.
Note: Integrated Application Servers on IBM i are designed to work with a .WAR file. Other Java web application file types are not compatible for this process.
Environment
IBM i 7.3 and later
Resolving The Problem
You are in: IBM i Technology Updates > Navigator for i > Documentation on Functional Areas > Install an Application
Open Navigator for i and from the side menu go to Network > Web Administration > Application Servers

From here, select the Application Server where the application should be installed, right click it and select Manage Applications.
Note: Applications should only be installed to servers created by users. They can't be installed to the IBM provided application servers. For help creating a new Application Server with Navigator for i, read Create an Application Server using Navigator for i.

This will bring you to the Applications table for the specified server. The title at the top serves as a reminder for what server was selected when opening the table.
From here, select Actions > Install new Application

This action opens the Install Application wizard. On the first step, enter the path to the .WAR file through the IFS, the other fields will be filled out with default values relevant to the filename.

The second step is the summary. This step allows users to review their selections before submitting. Click Finish to complete the wizard and install the application

In the event that an error was made when installing the application, Navigator for i provides 2 options to rectify issues.
A) Application Properties - Right click the problematic application and click Properties. Navigator for i gives more options than Web Admin GUI did in the past for editing existing applications, most problems can be resolved through this dialog.

B) Uninstall Application - Right click the problematic application and click the Uninstall Application option
