Abstract
IBM has created a new product category entitled "z/OS Platform Pervasive HIPERs" in My Notifications to help installations identify newly flagged z/OS pervasive HIPER APARs.
Description
My Notifications is a free notification service that provides technical information for IT professionals who maintain IBM Z servers. As these support bulletins are released, subscribers receive email containing links to the bulletins. For those users that are subscribed to the new product category "z/OS Platform Pervasive HIPERs", IBM will issue a push notification to highlight new HIPER APARs that are also marked pervasive (PRV). The notification will apply to newly marked APARs as of December 16th, 2025. The notification will include a URL link to the respective APAR documentation. Please note, the notification will not include Security and Integrity APARs. Information that pertains to Security and Integrity APARs is already made available through the IBM Z Security Portal.
For a HIPER APAR that is marked PRV, it will also contain one (or more) additional flags to indicate problem impact. These flags are fully enumerated and described in Enhanced HOLDDATA for z/OS.
Recommended Action
This push notification is a new, additional way for IBM to raise awareness of pervasive HIPER APARs. It is not intended to replace (or be used in lieu of) regular review of Enhanced HOLDDATA by the installation. Per the z/OS Preventative Maintenance Strategy Whitepaper, installations should regularly review Enhanced HOLDDATA. The assessment of risk, exposure, and mitigating actions must still be done by the installation. If any APAR text requires further clarification, then please open a case to the respective Software component team.
