How to make an etcd backup on Cloud Pak for Security (CP4S)?

Objective

  • Create OpenShifti etcd backup
  • Create Cloud Pak for Security backup

Steps

  1. Make note of the first node with role controller:
    oc get nodes
  2. Replace NODE_NAME with previous steps noted name:
    oc debug node/NODE_NAME
  3. Obtain node bash prompt:
    chroot /host
  4. Now run the backup script to start the backup:
    /usr/local/bin/cluster-backup.sh LOCATION
    NOTE: LOCATION is the fully qualified path location to store the backup.
  5. Verify the return was successful with:
    snapshot db and kube resources are successfully saved to LOCATION
  6. exit
  7. exit
