Abstract Description
Defect 88606
Affected Domain:
Customers running 6.3.10 or higher that managing any sessions with z/OS HyperSwap and multiple connections to the same z/OS Sysplex.
Description:
A timing window was found, where a HyperSwap may result in the session processing the HyperSwap event more than once leading to the session showing the wrong production host site.    If the condition is hit, any start command will fail as the session will do a load test and determine that the the site is the incorrect site prior to attempting to establish any relationships.  However, the session will need to be removed and rebuilt from the new site to start up replication.
Mitigation:
Removing redundant connections to the sysplex that HyperSwap is loaded on will help minimize the risk of hitting this condition.  But it is highly recommended that you upgrade to the 6.3.12.2 release as soon as possible.
Defect 88484
Affected Domain:
Customers with multiple Global Mirror sessions using the same Consistency Group ID for the hardware session ID (aka sharing the same session ID).
Description:
When managing multiple Global Mirrors with the same session ID on the hardware, if all the Global Mirror session end up in a Suspended state, starting up the sessions may result it x'0FD1 errors or putting the hardware Global Mirror into a fatal state.
Mitigation:
The only mitigation has been to remove and rebuild the Global Mirror sessions as well as cleaning up the hardware Global Mirror constructs.  A fix has been provided in 6.3.12.2 which will ensure the hardware is properly cleaned during the start processing of each session when in a shared session ID setup.
Defect 88621
Affected Domain:
Customers running large Safeguarded Copy environments.
Description:
By default the Safeguarded Copy session in previous releases, would query the hardware every 15 minutes for all volumes in the Safeguarded Copy session, to determine the out of sync tracks for the last backup taken.  In larger environments, this query has lead to too many queries getting issued to the hardware which may cause delays in the actual Safeguarded Copy backup process itself.  The 6.3.12.2 release will disable these queries now by default to minimize the calls being made to the hardware.
Mitigation:
Prior to installing 6.3.12.2, following properties can be set to help minimize the number of queries to the hardware in large Safeguarded Copy environments.  A restart of the server is not necessary after setting the properties.

com.csm.sgc_tracks_left_to_copy_monitor.disable=true

csm.server.safeguarded.disable_query_after_backup=true
