2.0 Architecture and prerequisites
- Go to the IBM Software Product Compatibility Reports (SPCR) site.
- Search for the Tivoli Monitoring for Virtual Environments, and then select the Show Fix packs checkbox to get the latest reports.

2.1 Prerequisites for this fix
======================
If you plan to upgrade the agents on Windows systems, ensure that the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Agent Framework (KGL) component version 06.30.07.14 or later is installed on the agent machine for the remote or local upgrade.
Check the KGL version as follows.
- Open the command prompt and run the following command.
kincinfo -t - Check the version of the product with product code GL.
If the KGL component version is older, upgrade the version as follows.
- Download and extract ITM 6.3 FP7 SP6 (6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Windows-SP0006.zip) for Windows from Fix Central.
- Run the setup.exe file from the <extracted_directory>/bundles/WINDOWS/ folder.
- Select Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Agent Framework (KGL) from the list of features during installation.
Note:
- This requirement is only for Windows operating systems. Agents on Linux systems can be upgraded directly.
- ITMfVE 7.2 Fix Pack 10 is not compatible with other than ITM 6.3 FP7 SP14 or higher versions when both (Agent and ITM components) coexist on the same <CANDLE_HOME> folder.
For VMware VI, Linux KVM, or NetApp Storage agents
- This fix pack can be installed as a stand-alone installation or can be installed on top of the earlier release versions.
- Download the IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Virtual Environments V7.2.0.10 package from the IBM Passport Advantage website.
3.0 Problems fixed
3.1 APARs
-------------
VMware VI Agent
The following APAR was fixed:
3.2 Defects
N/A
3.3 Enhancements
------------------------
Linux Kernel-based Virtual Machines Agent
The following enhancements were made:
- Added support for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 operating system.
- Upgraded IBM Tivoli Monitoring Software Development Kit to 6.3 Fix Pack 7 Service Pack 14.
- Upgraded Agent JRE to 1.8.0_351 Version.
The following enhancements were made:
- Added support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 operating system.
- Enhanced support for the FQDN attribute in the ESX Virtual Machines attribute group by adding the following features:
- The agent log now displays a message when there is a time lag in the FQDN resolution.
- Changed the default value of the 'KVM_VIRTUAL_MACHINE_IP_TIMEOUT' environment variable to 5000 milliseconds.
- Updated the help text that KVM_VIRTUAL_MACHINE_IP_TIMEOUT takes the value in milliseconds.
- Upgraded IBM Tivoli Monitoring Software Development Kit to 6.3 Fix Pack 7 Service Pack 14.
- Upgraded Agent JRE to 1.8.0_351 Version.
- Issue: vCenter Server 6.0 and its earlier versions use TLSv1 and TLSv1.1 protocols for communications. However, the TLSv1 and TLSv1.1 protocols are disabled by default, by JRE for security reasons. Hence, the communication between the vCenter Server and the agent is hindered.
Workaround: Follow these steps.- Navigate to the following directory:
Linux
<CANDLE_HOME>/JRE/lx8266/lib/security
Windows
<CANDLE_HOME>\java\java80_x64\jre\lib\security - Edit the java.security file, search for "jdk.tls.disabledAlgorithms", and remove TLSv1 and TLSv1.1 from the list.
- Navigate to the following directory:
- Issue: Agent Configuration parameters reset after successful remote upgrade using CLI on Windows.
Workaround: Follow these steps.- Reconfigure the agent once the upgrade is successful.
- Start the agent.
The following enhancements were made:
- The agent is supported to monitor the Active IQ Unified Manager 9.12
- The agent is supported to monitor the Active IQ Unified Manager 9.13
- Added support for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 operating system.
- Upgraded IBM Tivoli Monitoring Software Development Kit to 6.3 Fix Pack 7 Service Pack 14.
- Upgraded Agent JRE to 1.8.0_351 Version.
Known Limitations
- Manually reconfigure the agent once the upgrade is successful.
- Start the agent.
