IBM CICS Deployment Assistant for z/OS 5.3.0 CICSDA-5.3.0-FP00010 Readme

This fix can be obtained either by performing an Eclipse p2 update or an update in Installation Manager.

The CICS DA plug-in 5.3.0 system requirements are listed on the CICS Deployment Assistant for z/OS System Requirements page.

The CICS DA plug-in 5.3.0 can be installed in CICS Explorer for Aqua 3.2 or CICS Explorer for Aqua 3.3 (where Aqua refers to IBM Explorer z/OS Aqua), based on whether you have CICS Explorer 5.5 (Aqua 3.2 - Eclipse 4.8 base) or CICS Explorer 5.5 (Aqua 3.3 - Eclipse 2022-03 base) installed.  CICS Explorer 5.5 runs on IBM Explorer for z/OS 3.2 and 3.3. Refer to the CICS Deployment Assistant for z/OS section of the z/OS Explorer, CICS Explorer, and CICS tools plug-ins release compatibility reference tables.

Prior to installation

It is recommended that you take a backup of the CICS Explorer workspace before upgrading. Online instructions on how to do this for the CICS Explorer can be found here: "Taking a backup of the CICS Explorer workspace".

Installing

This is covered in the "Ordering maintenance for IBM CICS Explorer and CICS Explorer plug-ins" technote. There are two main ways of installing the CICS Deployment Assistant for z/OS plug-in fix pack:

• IBM Installation Manager
• Eclipse P2 Update Site

1. Start Installation Manager and click File -> Preferences -> Repositories.
2. Click Add Repository and add the following URL (the composite update site).  Further details are available on the Aqua Download page:
   • CICS Explorer 5.5 - Aqua 3.2 - Eclipse 4.8 base - http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/htp/zos/tools/aqua3.2/
   • CICS Explorer 5.5 - Aqua 3.3 - Eclipse 2022-03 base - http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/htp/zos/tools/aqua3.3/
3. Click OK.
4. Ensure the checkbox is selected against it once added.
5. Click OK in the Preferences dialog to return.
6. Click the Update option in the Installation Manager wizard and follow the prompts to update CICS Deployment Assistant for z/OS plug-in.

If you would like to continue to use the Eclipse provided update method then follow these instructions:

1. Run the CICS Explorer as usual. If you intend to use the composite update site and you know that it is already available, you can skip to the next step.
   1. To add the composite update site, select Help -> Install New Software... from the top menu.
   2. Click the Available Software Sites hyperlink.
      1. Select the Add... button.
      2. Type in a name for this update site.
      3. Enter the following URL into the Location text box:
         • CICS Explorer 5.5 - Aqua 3.2 - Eclipse 4.8 base - http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/htp/zos/tools/aqua3.2/
         • CICS Explorer 5.5 - Aqua 3.3 - Eclipse 2022-03 base - http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/htp/zos/tools/aqua3.3/
      4. Click OK.
      5. Ensure the checkbox is selected against it once added.
   3. Click OK in the Preferences dialog to return.
   4. Click Cancel button or exit dialog to return.
2. Select Help -> Check For Updates
3. If any are available, follow instructions in the dialogs to install.

Troubleshooting installation problems from the Support site

Visit the IBM support site.

Uninstalling if necessary

If using IBM Installation Manager, to revert back to the old version of the CICS Explorer, this can be achieved by using the Rollback function.

Otherwise, if you decide that you want to revert back to the old version of the CICS Explorer, you will be able to replace the .zosexplorer folder with the backup that you made before upgrading.
