Question
Answer
You can locate the current IWS/IAS version of your server in the IBM Web Administration for i console (http://server:2001/HTTPAdmin) under Manage -> Application Servers -> Select your server from the drop-down Server box. The server version will be listed next to your server name and the server type will be in parenthesis.
IAS = Integrated Application Server
IWS = Integrated Web Services
V8.5 (int app svr) = IAS v8.5
V2.6 (web services) = IWS v2.6
V3.0 (web services) = IWS v3.0
There is no current plan to end support of IWS v2.6 at this time. Both IWS v2.6 and v3.0 are fully supported.
IWS v2.6, v3.0 and IAS v8.5 versions are fully supported.
All IWS v2.6 and IAS v8.5 servers running JDK 8.0 or later are fully supported under a Service Extension.
These versions have reached end of life. No support is available.
If you are currently running IWS v1.3/1.5 or IAS v7.1/8.1; IBM highly recommends you upgrade to IWS v2.6 or IAS v8.5 BEFORE you upgrade to IBM i 7.3 or later. Refer to the following document for further information regarding an IWS migration, How To Migrate Your IBM Integrated Web Services (IWS) Server From v1.3/v1.5 to v2.6. For the IAS product, there is no direct migration method. You would need to create a new IAS v8.5 server, re-deploy your applications, and setup the necessary configurations.
IBM highly recommends all IWS/IAS servers running at IBM i 7.1 and later be configured to run on JDK 8.0 64bit (5770JV1 Option 17) or newer. At IBM i 7.4 and later, IWS v3.0 requires JDK 17 64 bit (5770JV1 Option 20). Please refer to IBM Technical document, How To Change The IBM Java Development Kit (JDK) Version Used By an IBM Integrated Web Services (IWS) v2.6 Server or Integrated Application Server (IAS) v8.5 Server, for more information on how to change your Java version for your IWS/IAS server.
Please refer to the table below for detailed information regarding the level of support of each component of the IWS/IAS product on the IBM i OS.
