Troubleshooting
Problem
D/T5802 SAS disk-drive enclosure
Resolving The Problem
The 5802 SAS disk drive enclosure incorporates a toggle switch (DASD partitions switch) to select support of IBM i, AIX, or Linux. Position 2 is the only valid toggle position for IBM i. Up to 18 drives can be supported on models 8203, 8204, 8234, and 9117.
R610 RSF is required to support 5802, along with EM340_075 firmware.
Specifically, the feature 5887 EXP24S can be ordered from the IBM Manufacturing plant in mode 1, mode 2, or mode 4. In mode 1, the EXP24S is treated as one set of 24 bays. In mode 2, the EXP24S is treated as two sets of 12 bays. In mode 4, the EXP24S is treated as four sets of six bays. These options are also called zoning modes. IBM i supports mode 1. AIX/Linux/VIOS supports modes 1, 2, and 4. There is no process as of April 2011 to change the EXP24S mode once the drawer is shipped from IBM.

Note: Only the 5802 has the mode switch.
