You are having a problem to upgrade Business Automation Workflow. You would like to know what documentation you must collect (MustGather) so that the IBM Business Automation Workflow support team can diagnose your problem. Gather this documentation to expedite the troubleshooting process.

General Diagnostic Information

Provide a detailed description of the problem with the steps that lead up to the issue whenever possible.
  • How does the issue impact your business?
  • Are there any deadlines that are affected by this problem?
  • Version detail information:
       Business Automation Workflow version before upgrade
       Business Automation Workflow target version
  • Does the environment meet the system requirements for Business Automation Workflow for the target version?
  • Provide the URL of IBM document followed for the upgrade and the step failed with errors
  • Database server version details
  • Operating System version details

Diagnostic information for installing upgrade

For problem to install the Business Automation Workflow upgrade, collect the following diagnostic information:
  • Which IBM Installation Manager mode was used to install Business Automation Workflow?  Wizard mode, or command-line mode?
  • Error messages
    Wizard mode: capture the Installation Manager GUI screen wit the errors

    Command-line mode: full command details and command output
  • Installation Manager data for problem analysis:
    Wizard mode:
                Help > Export Data for Problem Analysis
    Command-line mode: 
                     run the command from the [Installation Manager HOME]/eclipse/tools

                    imcl exportInstallData [outputfileName]

Collect troubleshooting data for DBUpgrade

  • Complete DBUpgrade command and error messages from the DBUpgrade command
  • Is this deployment environment type AdvancedOnly?
        DBUpgrade is not required for AdvancedOnly deployment environments.
  • Does this environment using Db2 for z/OS database?
Collect the following data:
  1. Command output from versionInfo 
    cd [BAW install root]/bin
    ./versionInfo.sh -fixpacks -ifixes > versionInfo.out
  2. Full directory of [dmgr_profile/logs]
  3. Full directory of [dmgr_profile/dbscripts/Upgrade]
  4. Database tables LSW_SYSTEM_SCHEMA, DBUPGRADE_PROGRESS  from Process Server db in csv format
  5. Database tables LSW_SYSTEM_SCHEMA, DBUPGRADE_PROGRESS from Business Performance Data Warehouse db in csv format

Collect troubleshooting data for starting deployment manager

Upgrade tasks are run during deployment manager startup and update all deployment environments at once. Collect the following information if the startManager fails with errors:
  1. Command output from versionInfo 
    cd [BAW install root]/bin
    ./versionInfo.sh -fixpacks -ifixes > versionInfo.out
  2. Full directory of [dmgr_profile/logs]
  3. Full directory of [dmgr_profile/properties/service/productDir]
  4. Database tables LSW_SYSTEM_SCHEMA, DBUPGRADE_PROGRESS  from Process Server db in csv format
  5. Database tables LSW_SYSTEM_SCHEMA, DBUPGRADE_PROGRESS from Business Performance Data Warehouse db in csv format
  6. (Optional) Support Team may request wsadmin trace data for certain tasks. See this documentation for more details

Collect troubleshooting data for creating Case Management db

Note: It is required create the Case Management databases for Content Platform Engine, design object store and target object store components. The only exception is for either AdvancedOnly deployment environment type or environment with Db2 for z/OS databases.
Collect the following data for problems to complete the required steps to create the new databases:
  1. Detailed version information
          cd <BAW install root>/bin
         ./versionInfo.sh -fixpacks -ifixes > versionInfo.out
  2. Complete command and output from 
        BPMConfig.sh -update -profile dmgr_profile -de deName -caseConfigure -responseFile response_file
  3. responseFile used in BPMConfig command in 2
  4. Full directory of [dmgr_profile/dbscripts]
  5. properties file [dmgr_profile]/config/cells/cell_name/deName_CaseManagerConfig.properties
  6. SQL errors from running 
    createDatabase_*.sql
    createTablespace_*.sql
     
    createUser.sql 
  7. Full directory of [dmgr_profile/logs]
