AFP, Line Data, and XML Document Viewer Support for IBM Content Manager OnDemand when using a containerized IBM Content Navigator

Starting in IBM Content Navigator 3.0.9, IBM Content Manager OnDemand can be configured for use with a containerized IBM Content Navigator. The IBM Content Manager OnDemand configuration includes viewer support for AFP and Line Data documents. XML viewer support is not supported for use with a containerized IBM Content Navigator in the current releases.  Support is expected in a future release and is yet to be determined.

The following viewer mappings are supported in this configuration:

  • AFP2PDF conversion (3.0.9 and up) (with Web Browser)
  • Line2PDF conversion (3.0.9 and up) (with Web Browser)

Note:  For these viewer mappings, the generic transform must be configured in the IBM Content Navigator Administrative view with a transform XML file.  When a request to view the document is initiated, a call is made to the conversion application to convert the document into a temporary PDF file.  This PDF file is passed to the web browser for display. If a PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat, is not configured in the web browser, an error message displays.  This issue often occurs with the Internet Explorer 11 browser.

Support for the AFP Viewer plug-in, Line Data HTML Viewer, XML Viewer plug-in is available with the following software updates:

  • AFP Viewer plug-in (3.0.9 IFix005 and 3.0.10 IFix001)
  • Line Data HTML Viewer (3.0.9 IFix005 and 3.0.10 IFix001)
  • XML Viewer plug-in (3.0.9 IF007, 3.0.10 IF003, and 3.0.11)

    The plug-in is provided in the IBM Content Navigator container: /opt/ibm/intplugins/viewer/afpviewerplugin.jar

    Note:

    • This viewer is supported only with the Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 browser.
    • AFP Viewer support is scheduled to end when Microsoft ends support for Internet Explorer: 15 June 2022.

  • Line Data HTML Viewer

    In the IBM Content Navigator administration desktop, the Line Data HTML viewer is configured in the viewer map in the same way for both traditionally installed IBM Content Navigator and containerized IBM Content Navigator.  The IBM Content Navigator container includes ODWEK and the Line Data HTML viewer.

  • XML Viewer plug-in

    The plug-in is provided in the IBM Content Navigator container: /opt/ibm/intplugins/viewer/xmlviewerplugin.jar
