Configure the Line2PDF Conversion to view Content Manager OnDemand Line Data documents as PDF from a containerized IBM Content Navigator

General Page

The Line2PDF conversion provides viewing of Content Manager OnDemand line data documents as PDF from a containerized IBM Content Navigator. Configure the Line2PDF conversion by modifying a sample transform.xml file and by defining a viewer map to use the Line2PDF conversion viewer mapping.

To view line data documents as PDF from a containerized IBM Content Navigator, you must configure the transform.xml file provided by Content Manager OnDemand to invoke your conversion application.  In addition, you must also configure the IBM Content Navigator Line2PDF conversion viewer mapping and then define a viewer map to use this mapping.  When a request to view the line data document is invoked, the application, specified in the transform.xml file, converts the line data file to a PDF file.  The temporary PDF file is then passed to the web browser for rendering.  If a PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat, is not configured in the web browser, an error message displays. (Note:  This problem often occurs with the Internet Explorer 11 browser.)

Use the following procedure to configure Line2PDF conversion.

Steps

This procedure assumes the use of IBM Content Navigator 3.0.9 or later.

  1. Copy the transform.xml available here to any directory on the server hosting the IBM Content Navigator container.   The recommended directory is /opt/ibm/plugins.

    Note:

    • You might need to rename your XML file to transform.xml to remove any version numbers.

    • You might need to modify the paths in your XML file to match the directory paths in your container system.

  2. In the IBM Content Navigator Administration view version 3.0.9 or later, make the following changes:
    1. Modify the IBM Content Manager OnDemand repository definition as follows:
      1. Click Repositories or Connections > Repositories  depending on your container system.
      2. Choose your Content Manager OnDemand repository.
      3. Connect to the repository and then click Configuration Parameters.
      4. Specify the path of the custom transform file.

        Example: /opt/ibm/plugins/transform.xml.

      5. Save your changes.

        Path to custom transform.xml file

    2. Configure a viewer map to use the Line2PDF conversion (with web browser) viewer mapping.

      See https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/content-navigator/3.0.x?topic=ccnwc-configuring-viewers-used-display-documents-in-web-client

    3. Associate the viewer map containing the Line2PDF conversion viewer mapping with one or more IBM Content Navigator desktops.

You can now open line data files in Content Manager OnDemand by using a desktop configured with the viewer map.

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to log in to the IBM Content Manager OnDemand repository, there might be an error in your transform.xml file.
