Troubleshooting
Problem
This document explains how to reset four specific attributes of system-supplied user profiles.
Resolving The Problem
There is a useful API for every IBM OS/400 or IBM i security officer. That API is Reset Profile Attributes (QSYRESPA). It allows you to reset the following attributes of system-supplied user profiles:
|
o |
The password value is set to *NONE. |
| o | The status value is set to *ENABLED. |
| o | The password expired value is set to *NO. |
| o |
The special authorities will be set to the appropriate values for each system supplied profile.
|
| o | Accounting code ( ACGCDE ) is set to *SYS ( applies to 7.4 and up, PTFs required: 7.4 SJ00130, 7.5 SJ00134 ) |
Note: While IBM does not recommend altering these profiles, it is possible that some systems have these profiles set up for sign on or for use by an application. Be advised that this will set the passwords to *NONE, which disables sign on. This API also resets any altered special authorities, which could impact any applications that are using these profiles.
The following system-supplied user profiles have their attributes reset:
QAUTPROF
QCLUMGT
QCLUSTER
QCOLSRV
QDBSHR
QDBSHRDO
