MustGather: Cumulative/Group PTF Installation Problems

Troubleshooting


Problem

Information needed to analyze PTF load or apply issues encountered installing cumulative or group PTFs.

Resolving The Problem

Collect the following information when there is an issue with the loading and applying of cumulative or group PTFs:

1.

Create a spooled file of the job log of the loading of the PTFs by entering the following command: DSPJOBLOG OUTPUT(*PRINT).
2. If the errors occurred during the IPL to apply the PTFs, collect the SCPF job log. For systems at R720 and higher, collect the active SCPF job log running this command: DSPJOBLOG JOB(000000/QSYS/SCPF) OUTPUT(*PRINT). For R710 systems and earlier, collect the first SCPF job log in OUTQ status when you run command WRKJOB SCPF. Take note of the job number related to the SCPF job.
3. Create a spooled file of all PTFs currently on the system by entering the following command: DSPPTF OUTPUT(*PRINT)

Create a spooled file with the current PTF groups installed on the system:
WRKPTFGRP and press enter. Then, press F6.
5.
Create a spooled file of all products installed on the system:
DSPSFWRSC OUTPUT(*PRINT)
6. If the problem appears related to the PTF Index control block and MF PTFs, dump this structure with the following command:

DMPSYSOBJ OBJ(QGPL) CONTEXT(*MCHCTX) OBJTYPE(*LIB) OFFSET(40)
