Detailed System Requirements


Abstract

Hardware and software requirements for IBM Spectrum Protect™ for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) version 8.1.11, which includes the following components:
- Data Protection for SAP® for Oracle 8.1.11
- Data Protection for SAP® for Oracle 8.1.9 for Solaris
- Data Protection for SAP® for DB2 8.1.11
- Data Protection for SAP® for DB2 8.1.9 for Solaris and Linux on POWER Big Endian
- Data Protection for SAP HANA® 8.1.11
- Data Protection for SAP HANA® 8.1.9 for Linux on POWER Big Endian

Content

IBM Spectrum Protect™ for Enterprise Resource Planning supports valid SAP® environments that meet all requirements listed by SAP, and in addition also meet the specific requirements listed in the following sections.

Discontinuation of support for the following operating systems
Due to technical limitations in dependent components (APAR IT44180),  the following operating systems are no longer supported:
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 and later service packs
  • 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 and later update levels

Hardware and Software Requirements for Data Protection for SAP® for Oracle V8.1.11:

  • Hardware Requirements
    • Server as required by operating system (see Operating System Options)
    • Minimum memory: 512 MB
    • Minimum disk space: 500 MB
  • Operating System Options
    Only 64-bit versions of the following operating systems are supported.
    • AIX 7.1, and later TL levels and fix packs on IBM System p
      The gzip utility must be installed on the system and must be available in the PATH environment variable.
    • AIX 7.2, and later TL levels and fix packs on IBM System p
      The gzip utility must be installed on the system and must be available in the PATH environment variable.
    • AIX 7.3, and later TL levels and fix packs on IBM System p
      The gzip utility must be installed on the system and must be available in the PATH environment variable.
    • Note for all Linux distributions: The backfm utility requires libncurses version 5 on Linux. This version of libncurses might not be installed by default and might need to be installed from the legacy repositories. Names and locations of these repositories can vary depending on the Linux distribution and version.
    • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12, and later service packs on Intel EM64T or Opteron AMD64 or compatible processor
    • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15, and later service packs on Intel EM64T or Opteron AMD64 or compatible processor
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, and later update levels on Intel EM64T or Opteron AMD64 or compatible processor
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, and later update levels on Intel EM64T or Opteron AMD64 or compatible processor
    • Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2, or later Service Pack levels: on EM64T and Opteron AMD64 or compatible processor
    • Windows Server 2016, or later Service Pack levels: on EM64T and Opteron AMD64 or compatible processor
    • Windows Server 2019, or later Service Pack levels: on EM64T and Opteron AMD64 or compatible processor
  • Software Requirements
    • SAP® BR*Tools v7.40
      Any SAP application stack that is supported by the required BR*Tools level.
    • Oracle Database Enterprise Edition
    • Oracle Database Options
      • 64-bit Oracle 11gR2, and later mod levels and fix packs at a level required by the respective SAP release
      • 64-bit Oracle 12cR1, and later mod levels and fix packs at a level required by the respective SAP release
      • 64-bit Oracle 18c, and later mod levels and fix packs at a level required by the respective SAP release
        Note: Pluggable databases are not supported
      • 64-bit Oracle 19c, and later mod levels and fix packs at a level required by the respective SAP release
        Note: Pluggable databases are not supported
    • IBM Spectrum Protect™ API v8.1.2 or higher.

Hardware and Software Requirements for Data Protection for SAP® for Db2 V8.1.11:
  • Hardware Requirements
    • Server as required by operating system (see Operating System Options)
    • Minimum memory: 512 MB

      Only 64-bit versions are supported.
    • Db2 Database Options
      • IBM Db2 Enterprise Server Edition 10.1, and later fix packs
      • IBM Db2 Enterprise Server Edition 10.5, and later fix packs
      • IBM Db2 Enterprise Server Edition 11.1, and later fix packs
      • IBM Db2 Enterprise Server Edition 11.5, and later fix packs
        Note: Db2 pureScale is not supported
    • IBM Spectrum Protect™ API v8.1.2 or higher.

Hardware and Software Requirements for Data Protection for SAP HANA® V8.1.11:

  • Hardware Requirements
    • Any SAP HANA® appliance or system with x86_64 or IBM POWER processor that meets the requirements defined by the SAP HANA® level in use with, and supported by, Data Protection for SAP HANA® 8.1.11
    • Minimum disk space: 300MB

  • Software Requirements
  • Operating system options:
    • Note for all Linux distributions: The backfm utility requires libncurses version 5 on Linux. This version of libncurses might not be installed by default and might need to be installed from the legacy repositories. Names and locations of these repositories can vary depending on the Linux distribution and version.
    • On IBM POWER Little Endian processor
      • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 and later 7.x levels
      • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, and later service packs
      • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP1, and later service packs
      • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15, and later service packs
    • On Intel EM64T or Opteron AMD64 or compatible processor
      • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, and later service packs
      • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, and later service packs
