Error description
The installation of IBM Storage Protect backup-archive client 8.1.19 on RHEL 6 and SLES 11 fails with following error messages: rpm -i TIVsm-API64.x86_64.rpm warning: TIVsm-API64.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID be1d0ddb: NOKEY error: Failed dependencies: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.14)(64bit) is needed by TIVsm-API64-8.1.19-0.x86_64 libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.15)(64bit) is needed by TIVsm-API64-8.1.19-0.x86_64 The hardware and software requirement pages for IBM Storage Protect backup-archive client 8.1.19 indicates that RHEL 6 and SLES 11 is a supported environment. Problem conclusion
This is a permanent restriction for backup-archive client 8.1.19 and later. Due to security reasons, the backup-archive client 8.1.19 and later packages are built with OpenSSL level 3. On RHEL 6, and SLES 11 those rpm packages are not installable. Therefore, beginning with IBM Spectrum Protect backup-archive client level 8.1.19, the operating systems RHEL 6, and SLES 11 are no longer supported.
