Abstract
Got cloud hosts? Get prepaid!
Body
If you've got compute workload that extends to the cloud, try prepaid usage licensing - an option to prepay for blocks of hours used by a host's cores and use those hours however you want. This option helps optimize cloud resource usage by matching cloud-use models with pay-as-you-go licensing. For more information, check out the IBM Software Announcement or talk to your IBM sales representative.
Once you've got prepaid licenses, you can audit prepaid usage by configuring your IBM Spectrum Symphony cluster to upload resource usage metrics to IBM Cloud Private. You can configure your hosts to upload CPU core and socket, GPU socket, and host count metrics through an external load index monitor to a metering service in IBM Cloud Private.
Get started...
- Set up an IBM Cloud Private 3.1 environment (either Enterprise or Community Edition).
- Download the prepaid usage monitoring packages from IBM Passport Advantage.
- Extract the installation packages and configure your IBM Spectrum Symphony cluster (either 7.2.1 or 7.2.1.1) for prepaid monitoring.
