Question & Answer
Question
When I use the CICS Explorer CMCI connection with the CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS (CICS CM) plug in, why don't the columns for the CICS resources sort like they do when I'm using just the CMCI connection?
When I swap between the CICS CM and CMCI connections, I can get columns for the CICS resources to sort. For example, if I am connected using the CICS CM port and click a column on the 'Program Definition' view tab, nothing happens. If I swap the connection to the CMCI port for CICS TS and then click a column on the 'Program Definition' view, it sorts ascending or descending as expected.
Answer
The behavior you observed is working as designed. As documented under Sorting data in a view in the CICS Explorer documentation, you can only sort the view columns from the CMCI connection.
There is a Request-For-Enhancement (RFE), 70201, requesting the CICS CM plug-in connection provide the ability to perform column sorting. If you would like to increase the chances of this enhancement request being completed, click on RFE 70201 then signon using your IBMid, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on "vote" to vote for it.
