Upgrading from Watson Content Analytics 3.5

Before upgrading Watson Content Analytics 3.5, confirm the following:

1. Some configuration files have been modified if you installed Watson Content Analytics in a distributed server configuration and WebSphere Application Server is used as the application server See “Upgrading in a distributed server WebSphere Application Server environment” at http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27037841 for detail.

Then run the installer of Watson Explorer Analytical Components 12.0.0 or 12.0.1.

1. Extract Watson Explorer Analytical Components archive file.
2. Execute the installer (“install.bin” in Unix, “install.exe” in Windows).
   In Windows environment, execute “install.exe” with “Run as Administrator” option or execute the file in Command Prompt started with “Run as Administrator” option.

Upgrading from Watson Explorer Analytical Components 11.0.2

Run installer of Watson Explorer Analytical Components 12.0.0 or 12.0.1.

1. Extract Watson Explorer Analytical Components archive file.
2. Execute the installer (“install.bin” in Unix, “install.exe” in Windows).
   In Windows environment, execute “install.exe” with “Run as Administrator” option or execute the file in Command Prompt started with “Run as Administrator” option.

Upgrading from Watson Explorer Foundational Components 11.0.2

For Application Builder, Big Index, Engine, Results Module and ZooKeeper:

1. Make a backup of following components. Adding followings, a backup of files in installation folder created/updated manually after installation should be made.
   a.) For AppBuilder and ZooKeeper, https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SS8NLW_12.0.0/com.ibm.swg.im.infosphere.dataexpl.appbuilder.doc/t_de-ab-system-backup-system.html
   b.) For Engine, https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SS8NLW_12.0.0/com.ibm.swg.im.infosphere.dataexpl.install.doc/c_installation-sysadmin-backup.html
2. Uninstall the current version of Watson Explorer Foundational Components.
3. Run the installer of Watson Explore Foundational Components 12.0.0 or 12.0.1.
   a.) In Linux environment, execute
   
   i. rpm -ivh wex-appbuilder-12.0.0.0-dae_en.el6.rpm
   ii. rpm -ivh wex-bigindex-12.0.0.0-dae_en.el6.rpm
   iii. rpm -ivh wex-engine-12.0.0.0-dae_en.el6.rpm
   iv. rpm -ivh wex-resultsmodule-12.0.0.0-dae_en.el6.rpm
   v. rpm -ivh wex-zookeeper-12.0.0.0-dae_en.el6.rpm
   
   b.) In Windows environment, execute
   
   i. wex-appbuilder-12.0.0.0-dae_en.msi
   ii. wex-bigindex-12.0.0.0-dae_en.msi
   iii. wex-engine-12.0.0.0-dae_en.msi
   iv. wex-resultsmodule-12.0.0.0-dae_en.msi
   v. wex-zookeeper-12.0.0.0-dae_en.msi

For Annotation Administration Console:

1. Extract archive of Annotation Administration Console 12.0.0 or 12.0.1.
   a.) wex-aac-12.0.0.0-dae.tar for Linux.
   b.) wex-aac-12.0.0.0-dae.zip for Windows
2. Execute the installer (“install.bin” in Unix, “install.exe” in Windows).
   In Windows environment, execute “install.exe” with “Run as Administrator” option or execute the file in Command Prompt started with “Run as Administrator” option.

Note: The number appears in the installer file name (such as 12.0.0.0 or 12.0.1.0) depends on the version that you install. Run the version of installer that you want to install.
