Troubleshooting
Problem
You would like to know what problems you might encounter when you upgrade from one release of CICS to another. You also want to know what CICS problems you might encounter when you upgrade to a new release of z/OS, Db2, IMS, or to a new Z mainframe.
Resolving The Problem
Select the appropriate link for the product or mainframe that you are installing. Then, click the search link to display documents related to CICS and the specific product release or mainframe that you are installing.
If you upgrade from an old release, make sure you click the search links for ALL the intervening releases. For example, click the search links for both CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.2 and CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 6.3 when you upgrade from CICS TS 6.1 to 6.3.
APARs might not be flagged with the keywords being used for the searches in this document. So, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you also refer to the "Service Recommendation Summary and Service Recommendations" and "Cross Product Dependencies" sections in the PSP bucket information for IBM Z products to ensure that you are aware of all required APARs.
To make it a little easier when upgrading to a new release of CICS, direct links to the Detailed System Requirements referred to in the "Cross Product Dependencies" section can be found in Detailed System Requirements for CICS TS and related products. This is where you will find the supported operating systems, hardware, and software for a product.
