Problem
SHARE, August 2003, presentation material for session 8216: "Assembler Issues When Migrating to LE and/or Amode 31" is still current in 2012. When migrating to Language Environment, sometimes you need to change your Assembler programs; sometimes you do not. It depends.... For example, ABEND0CA (decimal overflow in your assembler) never used to happen, but now it does. Or ABENDS0CA doesn't happen when your assembler is called from COBOL, but does happen when called from C or PL/I.
