Abstract
After applying fix pack 8.5.0.1 users on IBM i are unable to restart their server.

PM75505 resolves the following problem:
ERROR DESCRIPTION:
After updating the WebSphere Application Server Liberty profile to version 8.5.0.1 the server fails to restart. The console.log shows an error similar to:
CWWKE0044E: There is no write permission for server directory
/QIBM/UserData/WebSphere/AppServer/V85LIBERTY/Liberty/wlp/usr/servers/DefaultServletEngine
com.ibm.ws.kernel.boot.LaunchException: Can not create or write to command directory, check server directory permissions
at
com.ibm.ws.kernel.launch.internal.platform.ServerCommandListener
.securityError(ServerCommandListener.java:167)

PROBLEM SUMMARY
USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile using iSeries in production, where the QEJBSVR user is used.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
After applying fix pack 8.5.0.1 users on IBM i are unable to restart their server.
RECOMMENDATION:
None
After applying fix pack 8.5.0.1 users on IBM i are unable to restart their server.
PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
The code has been modified so file creation tests are no longer performed in the inaccessible server directory, instead tests are now performed in the server workarea.
The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.0.2. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information:
