After applying fix pack 8.5.0.1 users on IBM i are unable to
    restart their server.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been modified so file creation tests are no
longer performed in the inaccessible server directory, instead
tests are now performed in the server workarea.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 8.5.0.2. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page
    for delivery information:
    http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980

Temporary fix

  • A temporary workaround is to wrap invocation of the server
command with a script that deletes the contents of the
    <serverName>/workarea/.sCommandAuth directory.
