Abstract

LIC-COMM-OTHER-UNPRED SETSOCKOPT() SO_RCVTIMEO NOT WORKING ON
READ()

Error Description

OpenSSL and setsocket() for SO_RCVTIMEO to set a timeout
value. When doing openssl and SSL_read and there is no data,
the call does not timeout. The LIC sockets trace showed
setsockopt() for SO_RCVTIMEO for 45 seconds
then a read() API which did not timeout.

Problem Summary

Please see the ERROR DESCRIPTION section.

Problem Conclusion

The SO_RCVTIMEO option now causes read() and readv() to fail
with EWOULDBLOCK after the time specified by SO_RCVTIMEO expires
when there is no data to receive.
