MustGather Data Collection Requirements for Instana DB2 Sensor

Monitored environment details:
  • Kind of deployment (Single host , Primary/Replica, PureScale, Kubernetes, docker, podman, etc.)
  • OS (Linux/ Windows) and version
  • IBM DB2 version (IBM Db2 LUW)/Fix Pack/Patch Level
  • Names of DB2 instance(s) & database(s) being monitored
  • Is the DB2 being monitored locally/remotely?
Agent logs:
  • Collect debug log of Instana agent:
    • See the MustGather page for Instana Agent for more details
Agent configuration:
  • Collect <instana-agent-dir>/etc/instana/configuration.yaml file 
Debug Logs & Error Messages:
  • DB2 diagnostic log: <instance_home>/sqllib/db2dump/db2diag.log
  • Collect any .trap, .dump, or .edf files in diagnostic path.
  • For crash/core dumps, collect:
    • Core dump file
    • Backtrace using db2sym or gdb
    • db2support . -d <dbname> -s -c
Additional output & files to collect:
  • Please run the following SQL and upload the results to the case
    • DB2 authentication & limitations:
      • db2 get dbm cfg | grep -i auth
    • DB2 user privileges for monitoring:
      • db2 "SELECT AUTHORITY, D_USER, D_GROUP, D_PUBLIC, ROLE_USER, ROLE_GROUP, ROLE_PUBLIC 
             FROM TABLE (SYSPROC.AUTH_LIST_AUTHORITIES_FOR_AUTHID('<instana_user>', 'U')) AS T"
    • DB2 diagnostics & performance info:
      • db2set -all
        db2 get dbm cfg
        db2 get db cfg for <dbname>
        db2pd -db <dbname> -hadr        # if HADR enabled
        db2cluster -cm -list            # if PureScale
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​System resource snapshots:
      • Linux:
        top -b -n1, vmstat 5 5, iostat -x 5 5
        
      • Windows: Windows: PerfMon snapshot
