ITM Agent Insights: Silent install of JazzSM/reporting when DB2 is remote.

Unable to install as non root JazzSM/Reporting Services when exiting AppServer and connecting to the "IBM Cognos Content Store" database already prepared at remote Database Server.

Installed and configured a db2 client at AppServer and configured silent install properly. However, it seems that the installer does not understand a remote database and can not proceed.  Receive the following message:

DB2 database instance is not configured on the local computer. Exit Installation Manager, and configure DB2 database instance to use registry services schema configuration feature.

This Blog helps you resolve the silent install of the JazzSM/Reporting Service when the DB2 server is remote and the user is non-root.

After following all the steps from the above mentioned URLs, if the issue still persist with the following error:

DB2 database instance is not configured on the local computer. Exit Installation Manager, and configure DB2 database instance to use registry services schema configuration feature.

Remove - remove config.schema from the silent response file

Example: By removing the following two lines from the response file, it helps the installation complete successfully.

com.ibm.tivoli.tacct.psc.install.reporting.services.feature.schema.install
com.ibm.tivoli.tacct.psc.install.reporting.services.feature.schema.config

Note: To install, remove config.schema from the silent response file, it will only work when the DB2 server is remote and installing this product as non-root. As this section looks for a local database, we do not need it when one uses a remote database. This step has helped some customers complete the install successfully using this approach.
