Installable component names used in IBM MQ security bulletins

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

Beginning January 2023 IBM MQ security bulletins list the installable components known to contain the affected code, so that users can better assess their installations for impact.

This document describes the installable component names that are used in these bulletins, and any platform-specific considerations.

Content

Names used for installable components shipped with main IBM MQ product media and its maintenance
Unless otherwise stated, these installable component names match the ones listed in the IBM MQ documentation links for each platform below.  Some components are only available on a subset of platforms or versions (refer to links below the table).
The content of some of these components are also shipped as additional downloads independently of the main product media. Please refer to the Names used for other IBM MQ deliverables section of this document for those examples.

IBM MQ non-install images
IBM provides unzippable non-install images on Linux platforms, for the purpose of building custom container images. These are shipped through IBM Fix Central and are named in the format [V.R.M.F]-IBM-MQ-Advanced-Non-Install-[platform]. Historically these deliverables were made available through IBM Passport Advantage.
The IBM MQ non-install images contain the same components as the corresponding full product media at each applicable release and architecture, with the exception of RDQM and IBM MQ Explorer. On this basis, users of custom-built container images should ensure that they review the components that their build process selects to include in container images, and asses the components listed in security bulletins on that basis.
Component names used for other IBM MQ deliverables
The components in this section are available as downloads from IBM Fix Central, unless stated otherwise below.
Example naming conventions are given. In these examples, [v.r.m.f] should be substitued for the version(s) of interest, for example 9.3.0.2. [platform] should be substituted for the platform(s) of interest, for example "Windows" or "LinuxX64".
The following components refer to components that are shipped with the main product media, which are also available as standalone downloads. When these components are referenced in security bulletins, installations of the component via the main product media OR one of the deliverables below should be considered impacted unless explicitly stated otherwise in the bulletin.
