Abstract

This document describes the operating system requirements for the current releases of IBM® Informix® server.

***IBM has announced transition of IBM Informix Server 12.10 and CSDK 4.10 to IBM Extended Support effective April, 2026. Clients are encouraged to move to the latest version or release of the program or acquire Extended Support.*** 

 


IBM Informix runs on most systems that have a UNIX, Linux, or Windows operating system.

Minimum disk space and memory requirements:

  • UNIX and Linux: 750 MB of disk space and 256 MB of memory.
  • Windows: 600 MB of disk space and 256 MB of memory.
 

Java JRE was removed from the IBM Informix distribution starting with 14.10.FC11 and in 15.0: 

  • Customers will need to pre-install the Java JRE v1.8 or greater for use with 14.10 Informix products
  • Customers will need to pre-install the Java JRE v11 or v17 for use with 15.0 Informix products
  • Java v11 -  v21 is required for InformixHQ 2.4.1 and greater
  • Java v11 is required for Informix 14.10.FC11W1 and greater and 15.0

** Following system libraries are needed for IBM Informix version 14.10.FC9, 14.10.FC10, and 14.10.FC11 to run on Red Hat Linux 9. (This workaround is not needed in 14.10.FC11W1 and later). Higher versions of same libraries are installed on Red Hat Linux 9. As a workaround, symbolic links to those libraries need to be created.

     Libraries needed for IDS:
        libncurses.so.5
        libtinfo.so.5

     Libraries installed on Red Hat Linux 9:
        libncurses.so.6
        libtinfo.so.6

      Workaround:
             Run following commands as root user from /usr/lib64 directory.
                   ln -s libncurses.so.6 libncurses.so.5

                   ln -s libtinfo.so.6 libtinfo.so.5

Customers must supply their own Java 8 to install the 32-bit product.
IBM Informix 15.0 is not supported on this Platform
