    • 800 MB free space (minimum) in the /home directory
    • 522 MB free disk space (minimum) in the /var directory
    • 350 MB free disk space (minimum) in the /usr directory
    • 3.4 GB free disk space (minimum) in the /tmp directory
    • 8 GB free space in the installation directory, 30 GB recommended as requirements increase as historical data is gathered and stored in the WAREHOUS database
    • 4.45 GB free space in the IBM Jazz for Service Management installation directory
    The following space is required for the Tivoli Storage Manager monitoring agent:
    • 10 MB free disk space (minimum) in the / directory
    • 5 MB free disk space (minimum) in the /var directory
    • 350 MB free disk space (minimum) in the /usr directory
    • 200 MB free disk space (minimum) in the /tmp directory
AIX operating systems
    The Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager monitoring agent can be used only with IBM Tivoli Monitoring version 6.3.0 FP2 or later.
Windows operating systems
    The following space is required for the Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager application:
    • 15 GB free disk space (minimum), 45 GB recommended as requirements increase as historical data is gathered and stored in the WAREHOUS database
    • 40 MB free space for the temp directory
    • 60 MB free space for the system drive
    • 2 GB free space for the IBM Jazz for Service Management installation directory
    The following space is required for the Tivoli Storage Manager monitoring agent:
    • 350 MB free disk space (minimum) in the installation directory

Notes: If the system was manually upgraded to meet the system requirements, and was not a new operating system installation, you must install I/O completion ports (IOCP) separately. You can obtain the IOCP libraries from the AIX installation CD and configure IOCP on the DB2 server. Client-only installations do not require IOCP.

    Security-enhanced Linux considerations
    On RHEL systems, if Security-enhanced Linux (SELinux) is enabled and in enforcing mode, the installer might fail due to SELinux restrictions.
    To determine whether SELinux is installed and in enforcing mode, complete one of the following checks:
    • Check the /etc/sysconfig/selinux file
    • Run the sestatus command
    • Check the /var/log/messages file for SELinux notices
    To disable SELinux, complete one of the following tasks:
    • Set it in permissive mode and run the setenforce 0 command as a superuser
    • Modify /etc/sysconfig/selinux and reboot the machine

    If your DB2® database product installs successfully on a RHEL 6 system, DB2 processes will run in the unconfined domain. To assign DB2 processes to their own domains, modify the policy. A sample SELinux policy is provided in the sqllib/samples directory.

      Important: If you are installing a Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager agent, and you previously installed an IBM Tivoli Monitoring server, you must install the Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager agent on the existing Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring server. Tivoli Monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager can only be used with IBM Tivoli Monitoring, 6.3.0 FP2 or later.

        • AIX 6.1 TL7 PS6 or later
        • Minimum C++ runtime level with the xlC.rte 12.1.0.0 or later file sets. These file sets are included in the June 2008 fix pack for IBM C++ Runtime Environment Components for AIX.
      • AIX 7.1 running in a 64-bit kernel environment.
        • AIX 7.1 TL1 SP6 or later
        • Minimum C++ runtime level requires the xlC.rte 12.1.0.0 or later file sets. These file sets are included in the April 2010 IBM C++ Runtime Environment Components for AIX V11.1 package.
