Hardware
    AIX operating systems
    • A 64 - bit Common Hardware Reference Platform (CHRP) architecture, excluding POWER3 processor-based systems.
    Notes:
    1. To verify that your system is a CHRP architecture system, issue the lscfg command, and look for this output: Model Architecture: chrp.
    2. POWER3 processor-based systems must upgrade to POWER4 before installing DB2® 9.7.
    • A multiprocessor-based computer with a 2 GHz or greater processor
    • Network interface card

    • Dual core Intel® Pentium® compatible processor or multiprocessor-based computer with a 2 GHz or greater processor
    • Network interface card
    • Remote registry service must be enabled. For more information visit the Microsoft website.
Disk space
    AIX operating systemsLinux operating systems
    • 10 GB free space in the home directory where the warehouse data is stored (minimum).
    • 30 GB free disk space (minimum) in the /opt directory. Requirements increase as historical data is gathered and stored in Tivoli Data Warehouse.
    • 5 MB free disk space (minimum) in the /var directory.
    • 325 MB free disk space (minimum) in the /usr directory.
    • 10 MB free disk space (minimum) in the / directory.
    • 200 MB free disk space (minimum) in the temporary directory.

  • If Tivoli Storage Manager monitoring agents are installed on the IBM® Tivoli Monitoring server, memory requirements increase quickly as the number of Tivoli Storage Manager servers are monitored from that one IBM Tivoli Monitoring server.
  • If a Tivoli Storage Manager agent is installed on a Tivoli Storage Manager server, there is only a single instance of the agent is running on the Tivoli Storage Manager server and no increases in memory requirements are needed by the IBM Tivoli Monitoring server.

Software Requirements
Type
Minimum requirements
Operating SystemAIX operating systems
  • AIX 6.1
AIX 6.1 supports system and application Workload Partions
(WPARs), but DB2 installations must be on system WPARs.
  • AIX 7.1
Notes:
1. If the minimum operating system requirements were applied using an operating system upgrade, and was not a new operating system installation, you must install I/O completion ports (IOCP) separately. You can obtain the IOCP libraries from the AIX installation CD and configure IOCP on the DB2 server. Client-only installations do not require IOCP.
2. Details regarding known issues for AIX systems can be found at: https://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?&uid=swg21165448.

Linux operating systems
  • RHEL 5 x86 32-bit (update 2)
  • RHEL 5 x86_64 (update 2)
  • SLES 10, 11 x86 32-bit (service pack 2)
  • SLES 10, 11 x86_64 (service pack 2)
Security-enhanced Linux considerations
On RHEL 5 systems, if Security-enhanced Linux (SELinux) is enabled and in enforcing mode, the installer might fail due to SELinux restrictions.
To determine if SELinux is installed and in enforcing mode, perform one of the following:
1. Check the /etc/sysconfig/selinux file
2. Run the sestatus command
3. Check the /var/log/messages file for SELinux notices
To disable SELinux, you can do one of the following:
1. set it in permissive mode and run the setenforce 0 command
as a superuser
2. modify /etc/sysconfig/selinux and reboot the machine
If your DB2® database product installs successfully on a RHEL 5 system, DB2 processes will run in the unconfined domain. To assign DB2 processes to their own domains, modify the policy. A sample SELinux policy is provided in the sqllib/samples directory

  • Windows 2008 x86 32-bit
  • Windows 2008, 2008 R2 x64 : Standard, Enterprise, or Datacenter Edition
