Note:

  • IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 is discontinued on the following platform due to its end of support:

    • Linux on IBM Z 32-bit – Effective 1 May 2025

Linux on IBM Z 32-bit was supported by RHEL 7, SLES 12, and Ubuntu 20, all of which are now beyond their end of support dates. Following were the end of support dates for these platforms:

    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 - June 2024
    • SuSe Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 12 - October 2024
    • Ubuntu 20 - April 2025

As a result, IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 discontinued support for the Linux on IBM Z 32-bit platform starting 1 May 2025.

‘End of Support’ in this context means that no new release binaries or packages will be produced for IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 on this platform after the specified date and no support will be provided (including interim fixes in support cases).

  • IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition now distrust the following certificates:

    • TLS Server certificates that are issued by Camerfirma after 15 April 2025. Certificates that were issued on or before 15 April 2025 will continue to be trusted until they expire. Certificates issued after that date will be rejected.
    • TLS Server certificates that are issued by Entrust after 11 November 2024. Certificates that were issued on or before 11 November 2024 will continue to be trusted until they expire. Certificates issued after that date will be rejected.

Entrust issued new certificates that are issued by a partner certificate authority; SSL.com. These new SSL.com root certificates "TLS ECC Root CA 2022" and "TLS RSA Root CA 2022" are now included in the IBM SDK's cacerts truststore.

  • As of August 2024, Amazon has stopped cross-signing AWS certificates with Starfield roots. Any applications that rely on these Starfield roots to trust AWS certificates will stop working with AWS certificates that are issued after August 2024. Amazon issued new root certificates "Amazon Root CA 1", "Amazon Root CA 2", "Amazon Root CA 3", and "Amazon Root CA 4" and these root certificates are now included in the IBM SDK's cacerts truststore.

For more information, see IBM Documentation.

  • Version 7 Release 1 and version 7 reached end of service in September 2022 (see Java SDK lifecycle dates). Fixes, downloadable user documentation, and supplementary documentation are currently still available; see the Oracle Comparative versions section for links.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 reached end of support in June 2024. IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 is discontinued on the following platforms that was supported by RHEL 7 starting July 2024:

    • Linux on IBM Power Big Endian (BE) 32-bit
    • Linux on IBM Power Big Endian (BE) 64-bit
    • Linux on IBM Z 32-bit
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 12 reached end of support in Oct 2024. IBM SDK,  Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 is discontinued on the Linux on IBM Z 32-bit platform that was supported by SLES 12.
