Cloud Pak for Business Automation uses a continuous delivery support policy to provide new functions and enhancements more frequently, along with security updates and defect fixes through update packages. These update packages correspond to a modification-level update of a versioned release.
Note: This policy also applies to previous versions of this product under the names IBM Cloud Pak for Automation and IBM Digital Business Automation for Multicloud.
Policy details
IBM Support is provided for all Cloud Pak for Business Automation update packages that are less than 2 years old. If you report a problem and you are using an update package that is more than 2 years old, you are advised to move to a more recent update package to obtain support. Fixes and security updates are made available for eligible critical product defects on the most recent update package and all active Long Term Support Releases (LTSR). The second most recent update package, if not an LTSR, is eligible for critical fixes with exception approval due to business impact. Therefore, you must upgrade to one of these update packages to make sure that you receive fixes. The IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation LTSR applies to all containers. The traditional deployed components are covered under the bundled products Lifecycle.
LTSR releases will be supported for a minimum of 2 years or until the next LTSR has been declared. IBM will generally declare a new LTSR before Ending Fix Support on a current LTSR. IBM will make a best effort to provide an overlap in LTSR releases to give time for you to move from one LTSR to the next. IBM intends to not have more than two LTSR releases at any given time.

Important support recommendations and policies

On the latest update package and active LTSRs, extra support can be provided through interim fixes when necessary. These interim fixes are available only for the latest update package and supported LTSRs. They are included in and replaced by the next scheduled update package when it is released. In the following cases, an interim fix is either published officially on Fix Central or requested from IBM Support:

  • Defects that have a critical business impact.
  • Regressions introduced by a former fix.
  • Security vulnerabilities.

IBM Support proactively publishes interim fixes that solve regressions or security vulnerabilities.

  • IBM Support might offer an interim test fix to clients to verify that a code fix is working and solving the problem. Do not install interim test fixes on production environments. The final official interim fix is included in the next update.
  • To obtain an interim fix, the installation might require a recent update as a prerequisite.
  • Noncritical fixes are included in the next available update after the fix is verified.
