Steps

To customize the minimum and maximum age of your users' passwords, you need to refer to the 'minage' and 'maxage' parameters in the /etc/security/user file. These two parameters define the minimum and maximum number of weeks that a password is valid. By default, these parameters are populated with the value 0, which is equivalent to unlimited. The range for both 'minage' and 'maxage' is 0 - 52.

You can change the values for 'minage' and 'maxage' for your users by running the following:

# chsec -f /etc/security/user -s <name_of_user> -a "minage=XXX", and

# chsec -f /etc/security/user -s <name_of_user> -a "maxage=XXX"

Where name_of_user indicates the user, and XXX indicates the new value, in the range of 0 - 52.

Note: Setting the new values for 'minage' and 'maxage' applies to all users immediately, unless a user already has a specified value set.
