Steps
Use this procedure only under the direction of your next level of support or your service provider.
To start an eBMC dump on a Hardware Management Console (HMC), complete the following steps:
If you want to use the HMC CLI to generate the eBMC dump use the following command:
Initiate an eBMC dump on the managed system 9105-41B*7812345:
startdump -m 9105-41B*7812345 -t sp
When you use the flag -m, note the following:
The name can either be the user-defined name for the managed system, or be in the form tttt-mmm*sssssss, where tttt is the machine type, mmm is the model, and sssssss is the serial number of the managed system. The tttt-mmm*sssssss form must be used when there are more managed systems with the same user-defined name.

Initiate Resource Dump...
Use this task to initiate a platform resource dump of the server firmware for the managed system. A platform resource dump is a nondisruptive dump that you can use to capture server firmware diagnostic data. You can perform a resource dump without the need to shut down the managed system or any of its partitions, and without the need to open a service connection to the system to recover this data.
Initiate System Controller Dump...
Use this task to initiate a dump of the service processor. The service processor allows the console to communicate with and control the managed system.
Initiate System Dump...
Use this task to initiate a dump of the hardware and server firmware content (platform) for the managed system. This task abnormally ends the managed system and all its partitions.
For P10 servers with eBMC when you want to generate an eBMC dump from the HMC GUI select the option Initiate System Controller Dump.
When a dump is generated and offloaded to the HMC it will appear in the dump menu in the HMC GUI or if you want to use HMC CLI you can do it with the following command:
ls -al /dump
If you want to use the HMC CLI to generate the eBMC dump use the following command:
