ERROR: Perl lib version (v5.8.1) doesn't match executable version (v5.6.1)

Problem

This technote describes a problem where multiple versions of Perl on a system can cause IBM® Rational® ClearQuest® to fail when running a Perl hook or script.

Symptom

Rational ClearQuest 2003.06.x contains a Perl 5.6.1 library. If a different version of Perl, such as Perl 5.8.1, has been installed on the system and a Perl hook is executed, the following error message may occur:


The reason for the failure was Perl lib version (v5.8.1) doesn't match executable version (v5.6.1) at program~1\perl\lib/config.pm line 32
