The prerequisites for WebSphere MQ V6 installation on IBM i 6.1
Resolving The Problem
IBM i 6.1 requires object conversion of WebSphere MQ programs and service programs (since these were built using older versions of the operating system).
You must do object conversion before applying any WebSphere MQ PTFs. To convert an existing WebSphere MQ installation use the IBM i command, STROBJCVN LIB(QMQM).
Alternatively, conversion can be requested when installing WebSphere MQ by specifying FRCOBJCVN(*YES *RQD) on the RSTLICPGM command.
RSTLICPGM LICPGM(5724H72) DEV(&DEV) OUTPUT(*PRINT) FRCOBJCVN(*YES)
To prevent slow performance resulting from automatic conversion upon first use of an unconverted object, you must also convert objects after applying any WebSphere MQ PTFs. Use command, STROBJCVN LIB(QMQM).
Refer to Recommended Fixes for WebSphere MQ for the latest available maintenance for the WebSphere MQ.
SF99350 is the WebSphere MQ V6 group PTF for IBM i 6.1 which currently contains WebSphere MQ 220.127.116.11 PTFs. Unless you apply the WebSphere MQ V18.104.22.168 PTF's (which were available starting in October 2008) or one of the other more current PTF's, then the following TestFix PTFs MUST also be applied in addition to WebSphere MQ V22.214.171.124:
SE34594 - TESTFIX FOR APAR SE34587 AND APAR SE34588 FOR MQQR COMPONENT
SE34595 - TESTFIX FOR APAR SE34587 AND APAR SE34588 FOR MQQN COMPONENT
SE34617 - TESTFIX FOR APAR SE34580
To download the above TestFix PTFs, you will need to contact IBM Support and authorize your system serial number.
For more details on the problems fixed by these PTFs, please refer to the APARs listed above.
