Abstract

OSP-IAS IMPROVE STARTUP PERFORMANCE BY NOT DOING --CLEAN OPTION

Error Description

see closing

Problem Summary

When there are many applications deployed in integrated
application server or many web services deployed in integrated
web services servers, startup performance can be slow.

Problem Conclusion

When starting integrated application server or integrated web
services servers, the startup option includes the --clean
option, which cleans all persistent cached information that is
related to the specified server instance, which includes OSGi
resolver metadata and persistent OSGi bundle data. If you use
this option, the server will be required to recompute any cached
data at the next startup, which might take more time than a
restart that can reuse cached data.

This option is not necessary for normal operation. IBM service
might request that you use this option when providing an interim
fix, or if there is a suspected problem with the cached data.

Thus, the --clean option will no longer be used when starting
application servers. You will have the ability to specify the
option on the STRTCPSVR command by specifying the --clean option
in the Instance startup values command parameter.
