Abstract

RDARS-ONDCSRV-INCORROUT NAVIGATOR FOR I AGGREGATION SIZE LIMIT
INCORRECT

Error Description

When the Content Manager OnDemand component of IBM Navigator for
i is used to display a migration policy, the Aggregate maximum
size field is incorrect by an order of 10.  For example, if the
actual maximum aggregation size is 1 megabyte, the field
incorrectly shows 10 megabytes.  Likewise, if a user enters a
value of 10 megabytes when creating a migration policy, the
actual maximum aggregation size used in the OnDemand server is 1
megabyte.

Problem Summary

When the Content Manager OnDemand component of IBM Navigator for
i is used to display a migration policy, the Aggregate maximum
size field is incorrect by an order of 10.  For example, if the
actual maximum aggregation size is 1 megabyte, the field
incorrectly shows 10 megabytes.  Likewise, if a user enters a
value of 10 megabytes when creating a migration policy, the
actual maximum aggregation size used in the OnDemand server is 1
megabyte.

Problem Conclusion

The Content Manager OnDemand component of IBM Navigator for i
will be changed so that the correct value is displayed in the
Aggregate maximum size field.

Furthermore, the possible values will be restricted to 1, 5 or
10 megabytes on IBM i release 7.1, and 1, 5, 10 or 25 megabytes
on IBM i releases 7.2 and higher.  Other values supported in the
past are 100 and 500 kilobytes, and 50 and 100 megabytes.  The
smaller values prevent aggregation from being of much use
compared to not using aggregation, and the larger values are
likely to result in individual archived files remaining in disk
storage longer than specified in the Application Group
definition.

The value 25 will not be supported on IBM i 7.1 because the
OnDemand Archive plugin of System i Navigator is still supported
on that release, and would not handle that value correctly.
