Abstract

MQM400 UNABLE TO RESTART QUEUE MANAGER. AMQ8041 ON STRMQM

Error Description

The customer is attempting to shutdown and restart their Queue
Managers using the pair of commands :-
ENDMQM MQMNAME(*ALL) OPTION(*CNTRLD) ENDCCTJOB(*YES)
STRMQM MQMNAME(*DFT)
The ENDMQM command appears to be successful, and reports back ..
AMQ7A60 All queue managers have been quiesced.
But the STRMQM fails with error messages ..
AMQ8041 The queue manager cannot be restarted or deleted.
AMQ7018 The queue manager operation cannot be completed.
In addition, there may be some MQSeries application jobs which
have not been ended, especially those applications which do an
implicit disconnect (skip MQDISC).

Problem Summary

****************************************************************
USERS AFFECTED:
All users of WebSphere MQ who use ENDMQM with parameters :-
MQMNAME(*ALL) and OPTION(*CNTRLD) and ENDCCTJOB(*YES).

Platforms affected:
iSeries
****************************************************************
PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The program which supports the ENDCCTJOB(*YES) option
(QMQM/AMQOQQMX) uses a dummy MQCONN command to test whether a
Queue Manager is running. If successful, this action is
cancelled by a dummy MQDISC command. In version v6.0 of MQ, the
behaviour of MQCONN was changed, which made it an unsafe method
of querying the active state of a Queue Manager.

Problem Conclusion

Program AMQOQQMX has been changed to use program DSPMQ for
querying the active state of a Queue Manager.
