Error description

  • It has been determined that the time it takes to run a single
MRSETS command between a dataset with 80,000 variables and a
dataset with 20,000 variables is too great.

For example, on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit system with:
    RAM - 6GB
CPU - Intel Xeon Quad Core @2.93GHz

Executing a single MRSETS command on:
    - a dataset with 79,330 vars x 52,027 cases took 1:17.6.
When executing the same command on:
    - a dataset with 20,000 vars x 52,027 cases, it took 3.8
    seconds.

There is a great discrepancy here and it is magnified when
    executing multiple MRSETS commands.

Local fix

  • This has been reported to the IBM SPSS Statistics development
team for investigation. The current workaround is too continue
breaking up your datasets to smaller width sizes (reduce the
number of variables) before creating your MRSETS.
